The 7th City of Stirling 10k Road Race and 2k Fun Run
Will take place at Forthbank Stadium on Sunday 14 September 2008. The 10k is one of the 10 events included in this year’s Scottish Athletics Road Racing Grand Prix. Although the route will follow a slightly different course this year (due to the opening of a new railway line), it is still fast, flat and scenic - ideal for achieving a personal best. Both races will, again, be chip timed using the ‘chip in race number’ system.
We expect the entry forms and online entry system to be available by early June – keep checking the website for details.

New Year - New Ideas
Following on from discussion and suggestions from the floor at the AGM, we are now pleased to announce details of three new initiaitives being taken on by the club this year.
Athlete Development Funding
Firstly, as the club is always keen to support the development of our most promising junior members, we have introduced a formal athlete support initiative.
The aim of this is to provide financial support for Central’s younger athletes to compete in events outside Scotland, which will assist with their competitive athletic development in any discipline – track and field, road, cross country and hill-running.
What type of events will we support?
Some examples are listed below but this list is not exhaustive:
AAAs championships (both track and field and road running)
the UK Cross Country Challenge series of races
selection races for international events
BMC track races
The development fund will also have flexibility to support unplanned events such as international representative competition where the athlete is expected to contribute to the costs.
Click here or on the Athlete Funding link on the left for full details and/or to download an application form for completion and submission to the treasurer.

Junior Representatives or Committee?
Thirdly, we are always keen that our younger members stay on as members of the club through into adulthood and so to help encourage this, we wish give our junior members the chance to become more involved in the running of the club and to have their views taken into account in the decision making process. The club is run by the members for the benefit of all members and so it is important that account is taken of the type of club our younger members would like to be part of.
Derek Easton and Mary Cram have kindly agreed to help with this and to act as the first point of contact for our junior members wishing to put forward suggestions for such things as events, types of training and generally any other suggestions or complaints about the way the club is run.
We are open to ideas here. If the junior section would like their own committee then let us know and we can put this in place. Alternatively, if they would just like to have representatives attend committee meetings then also let us know.
Feel free to pass your ideas on either to Derek or Mary, any of the coaches or via the junior section of the forum.
