Central AC Cross Country – Sunday 30 January 2016 – Fintry
It was good to see 27 of Central Athletic Club’s youngsters tackle a snowbound cross country course at Fintry Rugby Club on Saturday 30 January, with great application and endeavour throughout.
Rosie Eckersley looked determined to make her mark as she went to the head of the race from the start and came home in confident style to record 4min 49secs. Angus Davis was making his debut in the cross country series and looked as though he will be one to watch for the future as he recorded 4.52 just ahead of the first Under 13 Boy Jacob Organ (4.53) who led in the other Under13’s, Daniel Bruce (5.02), Finlay Brown (5.26) and James Brown (5.45). Euan Campbell continues to stand out and here he again led home the Under 11 Boys with 4.56 ahead of a strong run from David Kirkpatrick (5.24) with Innes Brown (5.41), Caomh Curtin (6.01), Finlay Marchant (6.13), Benjamin Kennedy (6.35) and Ryan Mallon (7.48) all showing great resolve and enthusiasm. Among the Under 9 Boys it was Joshua Kennedy (5.36) who caught the eye with a strong run and with Owen Eckersley recording 5.47. Aaron Middleton 6.02 and Killian Trenholm 6.37 it was apparent the youngsters could hold their own in any company.
The Under 11 Girls were led in by highly competent runs from Anna MacKinnon (5.46) and Katie Finlay (5.50) while Mary Kiwi (6.07), Ellie Ross (6.13), Cora Morgan (6.27), Rebecca Organ (6.30) and Heather Hale (7.33) all showed great attitude to conquer the difficult conditions. Under 13’s Jessica and Frances McGinn had their own personal battle with Jessica just prevailing to finish with 5.53. Under 9, Sophie Appelbe has been a great supporter of this race series and again kept going right through to the finish
As always thanks were due to Derek Easton, David Eckersley and Raymond Milne plus a small army of helpers and parents who added to the atmosphere and made the event such a success.
