Track team events update:
The series of various track leagues are now well progressed and a quick summary of the current positions are as follows;
Scottish Athletic League ( Men’s League) (seniors); Central are lying second after two matches with two more matches to go.
Scottish Women’s Athletic League (under 13-senior). Central provided almost 2/3rds of team for the Forth Valley team to 3 meetings of this league which are now complete. Overall 2nd place a repeat of last year’s first ever 2nd.
Lower Youth Development League (u13, u15). After the 3 league matches, another second place on Sunday past, gave Central overall second place in the league on its completion, top ever placing. A place in the Scottish final at the end of July achieved.
Under 17 Challenge: results awaited on Sunday’s placings, should have competition opportunities at Scottish Final
Upper Youth Development League (u17 and u20). After two match Team Forth Valley (with Central providing over half of athletes) the team is in equal first place with City of Sheffield in North East Division and are firmly on track for promotion and a realistic target of winning this league. There are two buses going to York this weekend, a first for this team.
Forth Valley League (u11,13,15). Our two development teams in Div 1 and 2 of this 3 division league face their final match this weekend with tough ‘relegation’ fights ahead of them. Central’s focus of ‘development athletes’ for these leagues, against some smaller clubs putting in their top teams makes it a good challenge for our younger athletes.
Last weekend saw Central have two teams in the annual Under 12 Superteams competition.
Upcoming events are the 3×800 and 4×300/400 relays on 3rd July with active recruitment in full flow and the 4 x 100m relays on 14th August.
National Events Championships with self entry are under 17 and senior (w/end 13th August), under 13, u15 & under 20 (w/end 20th August) on-line entry on scottishathletics website.
