Central AC Press Report

With five weeks still to go to the Rio Olympics the ‘Olympic effect’ seems to be already having a positive influence on Central Athletic Club athletes.   Following Andrew Butchart’s success in gaining Olympic selection three of his training companions travelled to the British Milers Club mid-week meeting in Manchester to seek high quality competition.  The result was three new personal bests in the latest series of races in Stretford.  Dale Colley saw his 800metres personal best tumble by some 2 seconds as he won his race in fine style with 1min 52.71secs.  Jamie Crowe, as always, pushed hard throughout his 1500metres to record 3min 53.32secs.  Aidan Thompson also tackled the 1500metres and his effort was rewarded with a 3-56.29 timing and a magnificent 6 second trimming from his personal best over the distance.
