As reported last week, Andrew Butchart retained his Vitality 10,000 metre title in fine style, while behind him three of Central Athletic Club’s top runners came through to potentially pick up team medals in this UK Championships event. Team results have yet to be confirmed but impressive runs from Alastair Hay in 17th with 30min 46secs; Jamie Crowe (22nd, 30.53) and Cameron Milne (29th, 31.08) should be sufficient to win team silver medals. There is however an anxious wait while the Race Referee confirms the race results.
Friday night’s British Milers Club Regional Meeting at Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow saw Alastair Hay back in action on the track, coming home second in the ‘A’ 3000 metre race with 8min 14.30secs, close to his personal best for the distance. In the series of 3000 metre races, Aidan Thompson recorded 8-52.33 while veteran runner David Eckersley ran 10-27.22. Under-17 runners Sandy Holl (9-49.69) and Rosie Eckersley (11-01.27) also showed excellent form and determination in their races.
