It was tough going for a depleted contribution from Central contingent in the Forth Valley team at the Scottish Women’s Athletic League match at Aberdeen. Ahead of this match, Forth Valley were second in the League, but could only manage fourth place on the day. Nonetheless, there were some great performances on a difficult day for weather.
Emma Mailer set the day off in fine style, winning her under 17 300m hurdles in 45.50s. Anna Cameron made the move up to the senior division and took a strong fifth place in the 100m in 13.18 and second in the B 200m in 27.83. In her favoured event, a 4.99m long jump gave her 3rd place.
Madeleine Woods put in a good run with a 13.58 for second place in the B 100m for seniors before covering both relays.
Lucy More stepped up to this level of competition for the first time and produced a great result with a 3rd place in Under 15 A 100m with a new personal best of 13.51s and backed this up with fourth place in the 200m with 28.13s and fifth in the long jump with 3.97m.
The distance events were a strong suit for Forth Valley, with Kyra Gibb featuring in a double win for the team as she won the B event 1500m for under 15s with a 5:03.57 timing. Lauren McCulloch took a 3rd place in the senior 800m with 2:24.36. Skye Henderson took 5th place in the combined under 15 800m.
A senior 4 x 400m relay featuring Madeleine and Lauren, supported by Olivia Varielle of Falkirk and Sarah Calvert of Livingston took second place with a new best ever Forth Valley time of 4:01.20s.
