The Men’s 5K road race at the Armagh International event, in Northern Ireland continues to grow in stature with a reputation for fast times. This year’s race, on Thursday 15 February, saw the highest quality race in the history of the event so no surprise that a number of Central Athletic Club athletes used the opportunity to record fast times.
Alastair Hay, competing for Scotland in the event, ran a superb new personal best on the roads of 14 minutes 30 seconds. Aidan Thompson also reduced his personal best to 14.39 while Chris Smithard was just outside his fastest with 15.06. Michael Wright underlined his current form with a 15.14 clocking and Matthew Sutherland also ran into personal best territory recording 15.15.
