A small contingent of Central Athletic Club athletes attended the Glasgow Athletic Association Miler Meet at Scotstoun on the evening of Friday 1 June. With high quality fields and excellent weather the stage was set for quality running and the Central athletes did not disappoint.
The Meet doubled as the Scottish 3,000 metres Championships for Under-17s and Ben MacMillan made full use of the opportunity to win Bronze, in his first race over the distance, in the fine time of 9min 12.90secs. First year Under-20 athlete, Sandy Holl, made a significant downward revision of his personal best with a tasty 9-26.41 effort. Also on show was Aidan Thompson, in his first track race of the season, recording a close to personal best 8-35.45 in yet another high quality race over the distance.
There were two excellent personal bests for Central athletes in the 800 metre races with Under-17 Lewis Dow reducing his time to 2min 0.52secs and Under-20 Lauren McCulloch recording 2-20.09 with both athletes finishing third in their respective races.
