Indoor League 3rd Match, Kelvin Hall - 3rd February
Central AC indoor teams had another good day at Kelvin Hall with the Under 15 girls team clinching their progress to the finals of the League in March.
Louise Anderson started the team off well with 8.83s for her 60m run, with her excellent long jump of 4.18m being a new personal best and a very competent 6.58m shot put. Rachel Adamson had another outstandingly fast 200m with 28.7s and further improved her personal best in the 800m when coming second overall with her 2:28.3 timing. Katie-Mairi King took on the specialist events with a 10.94 timing for the 60m hurdles and 1.30m high jump. Rachel Mills gave a quality performance in the tough 300m event and provided an excellent 46.8 run for top points.
Hannah Smith won the shot put with 7.48m and showed her sprinting is turning to top class with 8.83s in the 60m and 29.7s in the 200m. Lorna Cameron improved her personal best in both the 300m with 46.6s and 800m with 2:28.3s. Niamh Callan was another to make significant progress with three personal bests with 9.55s, 32.9s and 3.23m for 60m, 200m and long jump. Sarah Dick also took a step forward with a fast 9.24s 60m and a 30.4s 200m timing. Fiona Cameron gave a spirited run in the 800m with 2:55
In the under 13 girls, Caitlyn Watson, in her debut, surprised many with her high quality 9.73s for the 60m and 32.7s for the 200m. Amie Bilsland showed her usual high standard sprinting with 10.05s for 60m, 33.5s for 200m and 3.13m for the long jump. Joanna Lowrie showed further good progress with 10.06 for 60m, with her 200m being 35.7s. Agatha Williams-Kelly performed well with a 5.09m shot put and 35.6s for the 200m. Chloe Rock has shown major promise with her debut season at 800m but had a difficult race. Sophie Brown produced a nother high points tally with her 5.55m shot put and 1.25m high jump. With the many of these youngsters in their first year in the age group, there is much to look forward to as they progress further.
In the Under 17 age group, Jennifer Hutchison produced another quality race, with 43.5s for the 300m, with Lynn Harvey putting in a 8.58s 60m sprint to match up with a 4.20m long jump. Lily Eadie put in her usual strong effort in the 300m and provide a personal best in the shot put with 5.60m.
Matt Smith produced two high quality performances in the under 11 boys, winning the standing long jump with 1.84m and taking second place overall in the 60m with 9.40s. In the Under 13 age group, Matthew Mills had two heat wins with 8.94s for the 60m and 29.6s for the 200m and was 2nd overall in the long jump with 4.12m. Neil Cameron was a little off his outstanding best as he recorded 9.39s, 30.6s and 3.37m for the same events, but never gives less than 100%. Jamie Gray made a big improvement in his 800m timeing with 2:57.7s and did well with his 60m in 10.44s. Twin Anthony gave a 200m performance in 35.9s and had a good shot put with 4.23m. Conor Kerr gave his usual high tempo race with a 2:33.6s in the 800m for second place.
In the under 15 boys, Stewart Ardrey gave two top performances with 8.09s for the 60m in winning his heat and a quality 26.5s 200m timing. Martyn Paterson recorded 8.23s and 26.7 for the two sprints and had another good long jump competition with 4.81m.
Roddy Irvine produced another fast time with a 2:24.6s 800m, but had to be happy with 4th place overall in a high quality event. It was good to see Kyle Henderson doing a wide range of events, after recent injuries and he produced a top class 200m time of 24.1s to win this event overall and produced a high quality 1.70m high jump also winning this event. His 9.08m shot put was also good enough for second. Sole under 17 Issac Sanchez-Cruz produced a fast 7.78s 60m and was rewarded with a second place with his 24.9s 200m.
