How to Join

If you are 18 or over and would like to join our club then all you have to do is come along to one of our regular training sessions, see training page, introduce yourself and join in. We are happy for you to come along for three weeks to see if you like it. If you wish to continue after that then you will have to submit an application form to become a member.


For potential junior members, that is anyone under 18 years, we have recently set down a develpment pathway and our admission policy is intended to coincide with this.

Our present admission policy is as follows:-

1. We are supporting the Run, Jump and Throw clubs being run by Active Stirling and we would prefer that anyone under the age of 12, particularly if they have had limited experience of athletics, attend one of their training blocks before coming to the club. We will be working with the Active Stirling to assess when athletes in the R, J, T club are ready to move up to Central.


Run, Jump, Throw clubs and ABC Athletic classes operate in Stirling, Balfron, Dunblane and Callander and cater for 6 – 12 year olds. Once children have been exposed to Athletics in their school either through Taster sessions or as part of the Scottish Athletics ‘ Fun in Athletics’ sportshall scheme they are actively encouraged to participate in one of the clubs below:

These clubs operate on a 12 week block basis so please contact Active Stirling for more booking details. ABC Classes cater for P2-P4 children and focus on basic movements, Agility, Balance & Co-ordination in an Athletics setting.
RJT Club’s cater for P5-S2 children. The sessions are delivered by UK Athletics coaches who teach key athletics skills in a fun and safe environment, including the fundamentals of sprinting, hurdling, javelin, shot putt, discus, long jump and triple jump to name a few.
At the end of each block a Run, Jump, Throw Championship is organised for all of the children to come together and compete at a number of athletic events.

2. For others, including those in the above age group who already have experience of taking part in athletic events or who show a particularly high level of ability, entry to the club will start on one of our monthly induction nights. These will be held on the second Thursday of every month during the Summer session with the position to be reviewed in the Winter. The first induction night will be on Thurday 11th May and dates of others can be found on the Calendar.

Who can join?

Subject to the above, embership is available to all persons aged 9 years or over.

Types of membership

The club offers the following categories of membership: -

(a) Athlete members who may participate in club training sessions and  compete in the championships and organised events of the club.

(b) Country Athlete - members whose main residence is outwith a radius of 25 miles of Stirling, who do not participate in Club training sessions but may compete for the Club in league matches and other competitions.

(c) Patron members who are all types of non training or non competing members including coaches, officials associated with the activities of the club, parents or guardians of Athlete members under 16 years of age and Members of the Executive Committee not otherwise included.

(d) Probationary members who are those participating in club training sessions during not more than three separate weeks before deciding if they wish to become full members.  If the athlete  wishes to continue to participate in training or to represent the club in competition then an application for membership should then be submitted.

How much does it cost?

Annual Subscription

Family (1 or 2 adults and their 2 or more children under 18 or in full time education) - £90.00

Adult Athlete (over 18 at 1st October 2007) - £45.00

Junior Athlete (under 18 or full time student at 1st October 2007) - £35.00

Country Member - £20.00
