Indoor League Final, Kelvin Hall, Glasgow 13th March 2011
It was a record breaking day for Central AC at the Scottish Athletics Indoor League Final at the Kelvin Hall at the weekend as the club won 4 medals in the League and added another 4 in the 4x200m relay events, far surpassing any previous total at this event.
The under 20 womens team took a league silver with Louise Anderson recording a double win the Long Jump (5.17m) and Triple Jump (10.83m) then setting a seasons best in the 60m (8.40m) for 2nd and getting further points in the Shot (7.61m). Chloe McGregor also had a busy day finishing runner up in the 60m Hurdles (10.85s) and High Jump (1.30m) and Megan Jardine set a new indoor best in the 200m for 4th in 28.9s.
The under 13 boys also landed a league silver with Cameron McCorgray on top form winning the High Jump with a superb 1.40m clearance then adding Long Jump victory in 4.24m. Robert Burns made it a clean sweep in the field events winning the Shot in 7.77m. Keiran Halliday took 2nd in the 60m (8.77s) and George Stanger (800m 2:47.2mins, pb), Cameron Hawthorn (60m Hurdles 12.51s) and Sandro Rosta (200m 30.3s) completed the line up.
Sandro, Cameron and Keiran then teamed up with Liam McGregor to add a bronze medal in the 4x200m relay in 2:04.77 mins.
The under 15 girls took double bronze in both the league and the relay. Sarah Pearson took two runner up places in the 60m Hurdles (10.14s) and 300m (45.4s pb). Emily Batchelor took 2 third places in the Shot (7.19m pb) and Long Jump (4.38m). Lydia Simpson set a big personal best in the 60m (8.56s) finishing 3rd in a tight photo finish just a few hundredths from victory. Laura Clarke was also on excellent form taking 5 seconds off her indoor best in a high quality 800m race with 2:32.1mins for 4th. Emma Boyle (200m 29.4s) and Isla Burns (High Jump 1.30m) added further points to take the team to 3rd place overall.
In the 4x200m relay event Emily, Emma, Lydia and Sarah teamed up to set an excellent new club record 1:54.61mins to bring the baton round in 3rd place in a tight race.
The under 11 girls also took bronze medals in the league and relay. Lucy Davison was on excellent form winning the B Standing Long Jump (1.87m) and taking 2nd in the A 60m after a crucial dip on the line to take 2 places in 9.91s. Erin Clark was also on form winning the A standing Long Jump in 1.81m and setting a pb for 4th in the A 600m 2:09.1mins. Erin Potter took valuable points for 3rd in the B 60m (10.07s pb) and 4th in the B 600m (2:25.4 mins).
The girls then teamed up with Lucy’s twin sister Abby to add another medal in the 4x200m relay for 3rd in 2:17.59 mins.
The medal tally was completed by the under 15 boys 4x200m relay team on Liam Halliday, Euan Lambert, Tom Chandler and Calum Presland. The boys had just missed out on qualification for the league final but made up for this with a superb run in the relay to take silver in a new club record 1:47.17mins.
