JSB Plumbing President’s Select Match Grangemouth - 1 September 2007
A number of Central Athletic Club athletes were selected to compete in the Annual JSB Plumbing League President’s Select Match held at Grangemouth Stadium on Saturday 1 September. The strong wind ensured there would be no personal bests in the distance races but did not stop Kyle Henderson and Sophie Brown leaping to superb new bests in the High Jump with Under 15 Kyle achieving 1.86metres and Under 13 Sophie, 1.50metres to extend their top rankings in Scotland in this event.
Kyle also had a further two wins, firstly in the Under 15 Boys 100metres with a handy 11.62secs clocking and another excellent Long Jump victory of 5.99metres to add to his burgeoning medal collection. Indeed there were other winning performances from Central athletes with Ross Milne taking the Under 15 One Mile race in 5min 17.15secs, Hannah Smith winning the Under 15 Girls Shot Put and Kathryn Gillespie taking the Under 11 800metres in fine style.
Martyn Paterson came away with two second places from his efforts in the Under 15 Boys 200metres and a Triple Jump of 10.21metres. Ross Milne’s Javelin throw of 32.18metres also earned second place as did Rachel Adamson’s 5min 25.08secs effort in the Under 15 Girls One Mile and Hannah Smith’s Discus throw of 18.05metres.
Matthew Smith came away with third from his 5.69metre effort in the Under 11 Boys Shot Put and fourth place in the 100metres (15.02secs). Neil Cameron’s sprinting was also rewarded with fourth place in the Under 13 Boys 100metres (14.40secs) and Central’s individual efforts also saw Ross Milne hitting 20.03metres in the Discus and Louise Anderson clearing 1.25metres with her rare excursion into the High Jump.
The 4 x 100metres relays that rounded off the meeting allowed Central’s sprinters another opportunity to show their pace with a quartet that included Martyn Paterson and Kyle Henderson showing great form and helping their team to the largest winning margin of the day.
