Press Report – UK Cross Challenge – Event 4 – Milton Keynes
Andrew Butchart consolidated his Cross Country Season with another top class performance at the UK Cross Country event in Milton Keynes. Facing a field packed with fellow International athletes Butchart ensured he was up with the pace from the gun running with a group of seven athletes until the final lap. It was here that Southend AC’s Adam Hickey kicked on to take victory with a 29min 30secs timing for the 9500metres course. Andrew used his finishing speed to good effect to ensure an excellent second place in 29min 49secs with Welsh athlete Dewi Griffiths a close up third with 29min 50secs. Dale Colley showed he is rounding into good form ahead of the Scottish National Cross Country Championships with a superb run for tenth place overall and third Under 20 on the day with 31mins 8secs.
The coming weekend features Central Athletic Club’s Cross Country Championships at Queen Victoria School, Dunblane with entry on the day and competition for 9 year olds upwards. Start times and distances are Under 11 Girls and Boys 11.15am – 1.25miles; Under 13 Girls and Boys – 11.30am – 1.75miles; Under 15 Girls and Boys and all Ladies – 11.50pm – 2.5miles; Mens Race – 12.20pm – 4miles. Declarations from 10.15am and all welcome.
