This page contains lists of club champions and trophy winners dating back as far as possible in the club’s history, covering the winners of the club’s cross country championships, track and field championships and perpetual trophies.
Compiling the lists has been quite challenging, and they may still contain errors. We have used the following sources, but unfortunately none of them are infallible:
- Names on trophies – these have been treated as authoritative for the identity of winners and the spelling of names. However there are omissions where a winner has not had the trophy engraved, or where a trophy has been replaced (perhaps due to the space for engraving having been filled). In some cases a winner’s name has been engraved, but with the incorrect year.
- Club result books – we have result books which record winners for the years 1988 to 2017. These have some gaps and for the perpetual trophies can include nominees as well as winners with the final decision not always clear. They also contain occasional errors, for example spelling errors or where someone’s age group or status as a club member has not been clear at the time of a championship.
- Club news reports on the club website or in the Stirling Observer – these are usually written immediately after an event and may suffer from similar errors to the result books. The club has not always had a volunteer to prepare such reports, and they also depend on the coverage that the writer and editor decide is appropriate, which may not be comprehensive.
