Founded in 1974, Central Athletic Club is the premier athletic club in the Stirling and Clackmannanshire Districts. With nearly 400 members, we are one of the largest in Central Scotland, and are home to Scottish champions, record holders and internationalists, as well as lots of ordinary, enthusiastic runners.

As a club, we aim to offer training and competition opportunities for all our members in the disciplines of Track and Field, Cross Country, Road Running and Hill Running.

Our philosophy, regardless of age and ability, is to encourage and support our members to achieve their goals in a competitive environment.

You can keep up to date with us on Twitter (@Central_AC) and on Facebook (Central Athletics and Central AC Members and Parents).

The club was formed in 1974 by the amalgamation of three clubs: Clackmannan County Amateur Athletic Club, Forth Valley Athletic Club and Grangemouth Olympiads, with the first committee meeting of the new club taking place on 25 October 1974. Initially, training groups met in Grangemouth, Alloa and Bo’ness with Stirling being added as a training centre in late 1976. Stirling Amateur Athletic Club later merged with the club. The club was initially known as Central Region Athletic Club, became John Greig (Builders) Central Athletic Club from 1993 to 1996 to include its sponsor’s name and in 1996 adopted the name Central Athletic Club.
