The annual club Christmas handicap took place around the well-established University route on the evening of Thursday 22 December under the expert eye of Derek Easton. There were twelve valiant competitors, well-supported by a set of marshalls and officials, running in a handicap race with a staggered start so the first across the line was the winner. Under this masterful system, the speedy youngsters found themselves in the lower ranks of the results while the triers and the grafters were rewarded.
