There are just a few days left to comment against the possible closure of Grangemouth Sports Stadium – a venue well used by many of our athletes. The closing date for comments is 27 January.
Grangemouth Stadium is owned and operated by Falkirk Council. The council is conducting a Strategic Property Review which is looking at a range of council-owned buildings and proposing that they should be transferred to community ownership or closed.
Grangemouth Stadium has a range and capacity of outdoor and indoor athletic facilities which are not replicated anywhere else within easy reach of the club’s members and activities. Indoors there is an extensive training area with heights that make polevault training possible, a 100m track and a gym. Outdoors there is a 400m track with facilities for all jumps and throws.
If the Stadium were to close there would be a significant impact on the range and depth of training that the club is able to offer.
The council is inviting comments on its website at https://say.falkirk.gov.uk/place/spr/ .
