East District League Cross Country, Dundee, 18 November 2023

Nov 22, 2023

It was a great day at a very muddy Camperdown Park in Dundee for the second East District League cross country of the season on Saturday 18 November 2023. The senior and Under-20 ranks were somewhat depleted by the Scottish Students cross country in Livingston on the same day, but there was still a good club turnout.

Juniors

Well done all and special shouts out to Hannah Inman with a great first outing of the season taking third place at Under-11, and Sam White picking up eighth at Under-11. Among the Under-13s, Zackary Walker finished a battling 59th in Under-13, while Erin Coombe 42nd and Jessica Walker 57th did the club proud in the Under-13 Girls. The Under-15 boys had an emphatic team first with all three in the top 10 (Harrison MacMillan second, Rory MacMillan fourth and Joel Gillan ninth). Emily Stanford was the first Central home at 19th in the Under-15 Girls and Under-17 Women’s race backed up by smashing runs from Niamh McKinlay (34th), Leah Brown (45th), Katherine Mitchell (54th), Tabitha MacKenzie (62nd), Fia Watkin (63rd), Ella Tanner (75th), Evie Low (79th) and Norah Thompson (85th).

Superb team spirit today – let’s see even more of you taking part in the final league race of the season in January!

A few photos on the Central AC Members and Parents Facebook page that capture the mood (and mud).

Well done Team Central Juniors!!

Seniors and Under-20

The Senior and Under-20 ranks were somewhat depleted by the Scottish Students cross country in Livingston on the same day, but there was still a good club turnout and some fantastic results.

The Women’s race saw Morag Millar pick up an individual second place and she was ably supported by Sophie Young (26th), Louise Torr (27th), Jayne Emery (51st), Grace Whelan (57th) and Rhona Scott (97th) giving an excellent result as third team.

In the Men’s race, Jamie Crowe took command from the gun to run home a comfortable 73 seconds clear, with the remaining five team counters in the next 20 places or so giving a clear team victory. Those other team counters were Dale Colley (5th), Alastair Hay (6th), Matthew Sutherland (8th), Chris Fullerton (16th) and Scott Green (22nd). Craig Baillie (23rd) was hot on Scott’s heels to lead home the rest of the team of Andrew Irvine (38th), Will Hensman (56th), Lewis Millar (83rd), debutant Gerard Taylor (90th), Neil Ferrier (96th), David Eckersley (101st), Charles Graham-Marr (113th), Donald Shaw (131st), Hugh Buchanan (157th), Colin Alexander (173rd) and Allan Gall (194th).
