Junior cross country series – Laigh Hills, 20 December

Dec 22, 2025

Conditions were perfect for fast cross country running at the third race of Central Athletics Club’s Cross Country Series held in the Laigh Hills, Dunblane on Saturday 20 December. Derek Easton had set a two lap course, totalling approximately 1 mile, with enough hills and mud to make this a true test.

Under 11 Boy, Harris Robertson, had set off in determined fashion and was rewarded with the win coming home in a tasty 6 minutes 5 seconds. Under 13 Brody Scanlon also showed good form to finish with 6min 17secs to head home further determined runs from Rory Meyler (7.03) and Jack Morrison (7.32). Under 9 Boy, Struan Torr, was another to show good form and here finished well with 8.23.

Emily Watkin underlined her fine form this year as she led home the Under 15 Girls with 6.18 while Nicole Taylor continues to show improvement with another strong run of 6.46. Under 13, Lila Robertson, again ran well here showing good form to finish well with 6.52. Under 11, Annabel Morrison, was another to have a strong run with 7.40 and Zoe McDonald (8.29) had enough energy left to finish the race with a cartwheel. Under 9, Alice Mitchell, has supported all the races in the series and here finished well with 10.53. It was good to see Norah Thompson again supporting the event as she showed great resilience to finish with 11.38.

A massive thank you to all helpers who ensured the race went well including Marshalls, Timekeeper and Recorders plus all the parents and siblings supporting the runners.

Full details of the series and remaining races are in this story from October.

Seasons Greetings to All.
