Craigmore Hill Race
The first ever Craigmore Hill Race took place over 6.1km with 380m of climb as part of the Aberfoyle Gala on Sunday 26 July to raise funds to launch an Aberfoyle Parkrun. Sean Morrison flew up and down in 42:23, but should be able to better that time for the Parkrun once it starts.

Commonwealth Games
Not many Scottish clubs have athletes in the Scottish team at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this year, and we’re very proud to be among their number with Andy Butchart doubling up at 5,000m and 10,000m, both straight finals with no qualifying rounds. First up was the 10,000m on Tuesday night when Glasgow reinforced its reputation as Raintown. “Not as bad as Scottish cross country” Andy quipped as he finished 13th in 28:16.75. Come Saturday, he did it all again in dry weather in the 5,000m running strongly over the first half to end up 18th in 13:55.31.
Perth Half Marathon
On Sunday 2 August 500 runners took on the challenge of the Perth Half Marathon. The start and finish were at Perth racecourse and the course took advantage of the auspiciously named Destiny Bridge to cross the River Tay before running down riverside paths to the city centre and back. For Iain Jordan this was his first race at the distance, and he won at a canter in 72:51 with enough time to make a cup of tea after finishing before the second runner crossed the line. Chris Watson showed that his preparations for the Amsterdam marathon are paying off with his top 10 finish in 84:28. Phil Sweeney continued his summer of good form to finish as third M40 in 91:29 with Kenny Hislop also continuing excellent recent results as fifth M40 in a personal best of 94:08. Eve Conroy is early in her running career and will be very encouraged in her preparations for the Amsterdam marathon by picking up the Senior Women’s bronze with her time of 1:41:41.
