Forth Valley League- Presidents Select @ Meadowbank Stadium Saturday 3rd September 2015
There were plenty of medal performances plus numerous pbs and a special mention to Lucy Davison who broke a long standing league record at this match. However it is a whole team effort and all the Central athletes were chosen independently by the Forth Valley League to compete. This is a great accomplishment in its own right. Finally thank you to all the parents who came on the day as without you your kids couldn’t compete.
Under 11 Girls Shot Putt -Anna MacKinnon threw a new PB of 4 metres 51 and gained an excellent 3rd Place and a bronze medal.
Under 11 Girls 800 metres – A really good run by one of our youngest team members in Rebecca Watson saw her get a time of 3.02.27. This was very creditable considering the winner broke the Forth Valley League record for the second year in a row. Well done Rebecca.
Under 13 1500 metres – Kyra Gibb achieved a pb with a very solid run taking a third place and bronze medal in a time of 5.05.39
Under 13 Girls 70 metre hurdles – Katie Burr ran to a new pb of 13.07 coming in a creditable fifth place.
Under 13 Girls 200 metres – Shona McLay once again demonstrated her powerful running with a gold medal and a new pb of 28.28 seconds. Shona also collected a bronze medal in the 100 metres with a time of 14.06.
Under 13 Girls 200 metres – In the same race as Shona it was third place and a bronze medal for Amy Kirkpatrick in a time of 28.82. Amy has had a great season and this was another fine achievement.
Under 13 Girls High Jump – Katie Burr and Molly Cornes competed in this and both jumped 1 metre 20.
Under 13 Girls Shot Putt – Ava Smith with a throw of 6 metres 54 came in fifth place with another excellent performance and a great new pb.
Under 13 Girls 4×100 metres relay – Amy Kirkpatrick and Katie Burr were chosen for another run out in a combined team with other athletes and their efforts achieved a time of 58.77 seconds.
Under 13 Girls 800 metres had a Central trio of Ciorstaidh Ainsworth, Amy Kirkpatrick and Molly Cornes in this field of 7. Ciorstaidh has had injury concerns but she showed that she was back to her best with an excellent run winning the race and gold medal with a time of 2.27.37. Amy was only seconds behind with another great performance on 2.32.44 and third place. Molly Cornes completed the trio with a time of 3.02.94 and showed great commitment in her competition running.
Under 15s Lucy Davison had a record breaking day where she broke the league shot putt record with a throw of 10 metres 01 and collected a gold medal. The previous record was achieved way back in 2002 which was 9 metres 86. Lucy had a busy day as she also ran to first place in the 75 metre hurdles at 12.88 seconds. Her very successful day continued at the long jump with another first place and gold with a distance of 4.54. Well done Lucy a great achievement!
Under 15 Girls 100 metres – Anna Cameron with another gold medal performance in a time of 13.25 showed that even though the outdoor season is coming to a close there is plenty left in her tank.
Under 15 Girls 800 metres – Sian Scott-Angell was very positive in her running and as with all athletes competing was willing to give everything for the Central vest in a time of 2.54.26.
Under 15 Girls Javelin – There was another trio of Central athletes in this completion. Rachael Methven threw a distance of 17.78 to collect an excellent silver medal and second place. Sian Scott-Angell threw 12.57 and Mirren Latimer threw 9.92.
Under 15 Girls Shot Putt – Rachael Methven threw 8 metres 37 to collect a silver medal and second place in a well contested competition.
Under 15 Boys 1500 – Tom Graham-Marr was in excellent form and broke his pb by 4.66 seconds taking his run to 4.51.80 and a fourth place finish. In the same race Charles Kelly ran in a very creditable performance in a time of 5.50.80
Under 15 Boys 800 metres – Keir Howlieson saw gold when he won this race in another very good performance from a Central athlete in a time of 2.12.51
Under 15 Boys Javelin – Comhnall Ferguson threw 18 metres 39 in a well contested javelin competition.
Under 13 Boys Shot Putt and Javelin – Aidan Grevemberg continued his excellent form by collecting a pb and a gold medal place in both the shot putt at a distance of 8 metres 74 and in the javelin at a distance of 27 metres 33.
Under 13 Boys High Jump- Harris Almass collected a second place and silver medal plus a new pb with an excellent jump of 1 metre 30.
Under 13 Boys 1500 – Sandy Buchanan had his knee strapped for protection and ran to a time of 5.42.50. Sandy kept going and was a credit to himself in maintaining a solid running style.
Under 13 boys 75 metre hurdles – Daniel Bruce gained a bronze medal and a new pb in a time of 14.85. He also ran in the 800 metres with a time of 2.39.56. Daniel was also chosen in a combined 4 x 100 metres relay team with athletes from other clubs and after an excellent run by all 4 he collected a gold medal and first place.
