Friday evening’s Black Rock 5 in Kinghorn, Fife saw a field of some 1,100 runners tackle the iconic route that takes participants across the beach and around the Black Rock with nobody returning with dry feet. The steep race finish adds to the toughness of the course with all runners finishing exhausted.

Central AC’s Cameron Milne continued his fine run of form as he proved the strongest runner on the night winning in 22mins 40secs. Alastair Hay was also on form, only a few yards behind in second place (22.43) and with another excellent run from Scott Green in sixth (23.26), Central ensured team gold medals.

Lewis Millar would have been pleased with his 24.37 run in eleventh, as would Ruaridh Miller in 15th (25.29). Neil Cameron (27.12) and Chris McHardy (27.21) both came through well in top forty places. As the runners poured through there were further fine performances from Iain Dunsmore (31.43), Bob Hanson (32.17), Raymond Milne (32.48), Kenny Hislop (36.34), Colin Sinclair (40.50) and John Millar (40.56).

There was also a good turnout from Central’s ladies with Jennifer Wetton’s strong effort seeing her finish as third lady and 56th overall with 28.43. Patricia Milne continues to impress finishing with 31.22 taking first prize in the 40 to 45 category, just ahead of further top performances from Kimberley Timmins (31.25) and second junior lady Eleanor Hanson (33.32). Runs from Becky Hay (34.30), Kirsten McStay (35.54) and Claire McHardy (36.35) also caught the eye.
