The Scottish Athletics 4J Studios Senior and Under-17 Indoor Championships took place at the Emirates Arena on Saturday 4 February with Central well-represented by its athletes whose achievements included two championship titles..
Dylan McCulloch took an impressive victory in the Under-17 400 Metres. He smashed the opposition with the fastest time in the UK so far this year for an Under-17 athlete of 50.69 seconds, a full second faster than his personal best set on Wednesday at the Scottish Schools. It is also reset his club record, and is the fourth fastest on the Central indoor all-time list. (photos on Twitter and Facebook).

Meanwhile among the Senior Men, Ben Greenwood became Central’s first ever Scottish indoor track champion in the 1,500 Metres. He showed patience in the race but gradually wound up his pace to go clear in the final lap and race away for the gold medal in 3:52.06 minutes.
Ian Horsburgh just missed out on the Senior Men’s 200 Metres final with an excellent 22.54s run in the semi-finals for seventh place. He was closely followed by Daniel Bruce (Stirling University) as he ran a personal best 23.30s to progress to the semi-finals after running 7.31s in the 60 Metres.
Loren Stewart showed her strength across 3 different Under-17 events. She took seventh in Shot Put with 8.19m, set a new personal best of 27.96s to qualify for the 200 Metres semi-final and finished sixth in the Long Jump with 5.03m.
Sandy Holl set a time of 1:59.24 in the Senior Men’s 800 Metres heat which was the seventh quickest, but with only six places in the final he just missed out on qualification.
Jamie Connor was sixth in the final of the Under-17 60 Metres Hurdles with 10.95s.
Niamh McKinlay was third in her Under-17 800 Metres heat by 0.1s with 2:24.36. However final places were determined as top two in each heat, with no fastest losers, meaning she failed to progress in spite of being one of the six fastest athletes.
Ken Young set a time of 56.28s for fourth in his heat for the Under-17 400 Metres.
Lewis Miller set a personal best of 7.68s in the Under-17 60 Metres heats to reach the semi-final.
