Eleven of our junior athletes made the trip to North Berwick on Saturday 18 March 2023 to compete in the Scottish Athletics Young Athletes Road Race championships at East Fortune Race Circuit, with all except two of them trying the road race format for the first time.

Race 1 saw Emily Stanford and Ella Tanner take on a 2.5km course in the Under-13 age group. Emily took sixth place in a time of 9 minutes 18 seconds with Ella following up in 11:54.
Next up we had a full team of Under-13 Boys who were led home by Harrison MacMillan 8:10, closely followed by brother Rory MacMillan 8:26 and backed up by Cameron Tanner 9:51. Harrison claimed individual bronze for his efforts while the boys also took team bronze for their collective run – not for the first time this season! Well done boys!
The Under-15s were running a 4km course and Niamh McKinlay was first Central girl home in a time of 15:44 followed by Amelia Campbell in 18:08 while Conall Paterson was our only boy at this age group and finished in 16:26.
Catriona Kane was our sole runner in the Under-17 Women and she completed the 5km course in 19:49.
Last race of the day saw Connor Bell finish in 16:03 followed by Alex Dunlop in 18:20 in the Under-17 Men race.

Everyone enjoyed their day at a venue resembling the Top Gear test track in conditions that were at various points described as ‘warm’ and ‘sunny’ – hopefully a good sign for the summer season ahead….
