Each event will need support to help make it happen, offers of assistance for marshalling and set up gratefully received.

Series details

Central Athletic Club again offers our young athletes a cross country series of grassroots competition and a great introduction to this aspect of athletics.

This is a great opportunity to spend some time with Scotland’s foremost endurance coach, Derek Easton, and have some fun along the way.

The race series is recommended to all young athletes within the club, including those participating in the Central AC ClubStart programme, those participating in cross country through their schools and any prospective young athlete considering taking up running. Each event will comprise warm-up, walk/jog round the course and race of approximately 1 mile. Registration at each venue will commence half an hour before the times stated below with warm-up from the times stated.


Dates and venues

  • Saturday 9 November – Airthrey Castle, Stirling University – 11am
  • Saturday 23 November – Callander Crags car park, Callander – 11am
  • Saturday 21 December – Laigh Hills, Dunblane – 11am
  • Sunday 12 January – Fintry Rugby Club – 12noon
  • Saturday 15 February – Queen Victoria School – part of club cross country championships – full details nearer the time
  • Saturday 8 March – Kings Park, Stirling – 11am – final

No special equipment required, just lots of enthusiasm. Medals to all athletes who take part in a minimum of 4 races and prizes for category winners, based on best four performances. Please note that video recording may be used as back up for race results.

*AGE GROUPS:- Under 9 upwards for club Cross Country series; Under 11 for club Cross Country series and East League races; Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 for all events.
