In our 50th anniversary year as a club, Thursday evening saw the 25th edition of the Central Athletic Club’s Christmas Handicap and once again it lived up to expectations with a field of 41 athletes of all ages.

Following the recent trend the ladies were once again the cream of the crop.

Scarlett Roy returned from Edinburgh University for her Christmas holidays to take the win in fine style! Gerard Taylor continued his recent good form to finish not far behind and just in front of Tuscany Wright who had another excellent run to finish in third place. Grace Whelan put up a brave defence of her title but just missed the podium in fourth.

Cameron Milne repeated last year’s form by recording the fastest lap in 12 minutes 16 seconds, just 5 seconds faster than GB international Alastair Marshall. Dale Colley snatched third fastest lap to remind us that you can’t be a Scottish 1500 Metres Champion without having a lot of class!

Morag Millar once again recorded the fastest time for the ladies with a very impressive 13 minutes 52 seconds.
