Three of Central Athletic Club athletes were representing Scotland at the Northern Ireland International Cross Country in Dundonald, near Belfast, on Saturday 22 January.
A superb run by Under-17 Connor Bell saw him lead home a Scottish 1-2-3 and take the Celtic team title for Scotland. Connor was representing Scotland for the first time and here reversed last week’s result in the Scottish Inter District Championships to head second place Corey Campbell by some 4 seconds, covering the 6 kilometre course in 19 minutes 16 seconds. This performance also saw Scotland win Home Country team golds.
Central’s Under-23 runners Ben MacMillan and Alastair Marshall were competing for Scotland in the Senior Men’s race over a 10 kilometre course and here came home 21st (31:37) and 24th (31:54) respectively as they took Celtic team silvers for Scotland in the Under-23 category, losing out by a single point to Ireland.
