Scottish Indoor Age Group championships, Emirates Arena, Glasgow

Congratulations Emily Watkin on picking up the Triple Jump silver medal at the U16 Girls Indoor National Championships. With both Emily and the third place girl jumping 9.56m, Emily won the silver with a better supporting jump of 9.55m – showing great consistency!

Rachel Carvel stepped up from Under 18 to Under 20 for High Jump and came away with a bronze medal clearing 1.52m.

Lewis Miller won not one but two medals at the Championships. On Saturday he took the bronze medal in the Under 20 Men Triple Jump with a new PB performance of 13.81m. He followed that up on Sunday with a GOLD medal in the Under 20 Men Long Jump with a season’s best jump of 6.58m. Fantastic Jumping!

Inter-counties XC, Nottingham

The UK Inter-counties cross country returned to its traditional home of Wollaton Park in Nottingham on Saturday 7 March, with teams from Scotland West, East and North taking on English counties. Central’s Iain Jordan studies at University of Strathclyde and so ran for Scotland West’s Under 20 men, finishing 21st in 25:52 and helping the team to gold medals.

Half marathon news

Lots to celebrate at the Inverness Half Marathon as Hamish Hickey took the win in a PB of 65:06, lifting him to third on the club’s all-time list. Alastair Marshall in his first race at the distance was close behind in 5th with 67:16, followed by Chris ‘Metronome’ Fullerton in 35th (73:22), matching his time from Barcelona just 3 weeks ago, and Josh Wood coming home in 45th (74:45). Among the women Jennifer Wetton claimed 10th place in 81:41 and Amy Gough set a PB with 87:17 to finish 28th.

More great news from the flatlands of East Anglia where Central was powerfully represented at the Cambridge Half Marathon by Kenny Hislop finishing in 1:36:21 and Hannah Hislop in 1:47:19, each setting a PB.
