Cross country events 2024-25

Nov 15, 2024

We are now well into the cross country season for this winter. The club has seen significant successes with both the senior men’s (Alastair Marshall, Connor Bell, Cameron Milne and Aidan Thompson) and senior women’s teams (Jennifer Wetton, Grace Whelan and Morag Millar) winning the East District Relay championships at Dechmont Law, Livingston on 5 October. The men’s team of Luca Fanottoli, Aidan Thompson, Cameron Milne and Jamie Crowe followed this up with a convincing win at the National Relays at Cumbernauld two weeks later where the senior women (Tuscany Wright, Grace Whelan, Jennifer Wetton and Morag Millar) finished in a strong fifth place.

The National Short Course Championships took place at Kirkcaldy High School on 2 November with Jamie Crowe coming a hard-fought second, closely followed by Aidan Thompson in third and Morag Millar a bold third in the women’s race.

The two relay champonships, together with the Short Course, are used to determine the outome of the Scottish Athletics Cross Country Team Challenge and our men lifted that prize while the women finished fourth.

The club has a strong history in the East League Cross Country League although we have only been in existence for the second half of the League’s one hundred year history. This year’s League started its three event series at Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy on 26 October with good performances for the club across the full range of races from Under 13 to seniors and masters. The League continues on Saturday 16 November at Camperdown Park in Dundee with starts from 12noon to 2.30pm. No pre-entry required, just turn up and run!

The club’s junior cross country series kicked off at Airthrey Castle, Stirling University on Saturday 9 November and continues with a total of six races in Callander, Fintry, Dunblane and Stirling spread through until early March. This is a great way for juniors to get used to cross country racing. Full details of this year’s series are in this news story.

The remaining dates for your cross country calendar for this winter season are:
