Scottish National Athletics League, 19 April 2026

Apr 7, 2026

The Scottish National Joint League provides quality track and field competition for Under 18, Under 20, Senior and Masters athletes. The first match of the 2026 season is on Sunday 19 April at Grangemouth and I am keen to get a good turnout from Central’s athletes.

The format for 2026 will include league and team competition across the age groups and sexes and opportunity to compete in a series of graded events. Central AC will not be involved in other track and field league competition during 2026 for these age groups.

The dates and venues are as follows:

  • Sunday 19 April – Grangemouth
  • Sunday 31 May – Grangemouth
  • Sunday 5 July – Aberdeen

Due to the Commonwealth Games there will not be a fourth fixture this year.

The intended timetable for 19 April is in the PDF below:

This meeting allows for

  • track competition for 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1 Mile, 3000m (men), sprint hurdles and 2000m Steeplechase (women)
  • field competition for Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Discus and Javelin.

There will be sufficient qualified officials and automatic timing to ensure that performances will be shown on Power of 10 and can be used for international selection. The League rules are in the PDF below:

Central AC are required to provide helpers – three at each match and these personnel could change between morning and afternoon.

The names of athletes along with 2024 (or later) personal bests and Scottish Athletics membership numbers must be submitted by Friday 10 April. Scottish Athletics membership numbers must be up to date and will be subject to scrutiny. There are no individual fees for competing as the competing clubs will cover these costs.

Should you be interested in being considered for competition on 19 April, please contact Kenny Pearson by Wednesday 8 April at the latest (kennethwgpearson@googlemail.com), with details of preferred event and with any offers of assistance.

This is a great opportunity for some quality competition and to improve your personal bests, or even try a new event.

A similar story will be posted for subsequent events.

Best Regards
Kenny
