Clydebank 5k

Kevin Amos made a bid to catch up with Donald Shaw’s race count by entering the little-advertised Scottish Veterans Clydebank 5k on the evening of Wednesday 24 June, only to find that Donald had read his mind like a Brazil attacker in the Scotland penalty box. However, young Kevin had some compensation as he scampered round in 18:17 leaving Donald in his wake to record 19:55. Milnathort Dash

The Milnathort Dash is a hilly 5 miler with a chunky 125m of climb and special King and Queen of the Hills awards for the fastest over the first ascent from the start line. Iain Jordan was the club’s sole representative on Thursday 25 June and dominated to come home a comfortable 20 seconds clear in 26:56, just a little outside Scott Green’s course record. Barrathon

If Parliamo Glasgow is studied in the Cunningham household, planning for Saturday 27 June may have been along the lines of “Zarra mara on Barra?”,  “Naw, it’s a haff, ya nyaff.” So it was that Ally lined up for the sell-out 13.1 mile loop around the island at an event which is topographically steep and windswept but socially warm and welcoming, and he had an excellent run to clock 1:48:10 as the second V60. Linda meanwhile continued her recuperation from injury by walking the course. Full results at https://protay.co.uk/barrathon2026/results.php#0_D5DF18

10k du Mont Blanc

Some people go on holiday to relax in the sun, others to learn from a different culture, but Grace Whelan and Hamish Hickey travelled to Chamonix to take part in the 10k du Mont Blanc on Saturday 27 June. As you might expect in that location it’s a hilly trail course with 270m of climb, and the two experienced hill runners made light work of it as Grace took the women’s gold in 47:42 and Hamish just missed the medals as fourth man in 39:22.
